I saw Tintin!

I ranted about my fascination with Tintin not too long ago, and I can happily say that after seeing in at the movies last Tuesday, in epic 3D (seriously, 3D effects are made for true 3D movies!), my enthusiasm hasn't faded, I loved every minute - especially constantly swearing and whisky-craving Captain Haddock - it was brilliant!

So, for people that where still dubbing about going or not, I say go. Go. Go. GO! It is worth your money and time, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson did a brilliant job, and than I won't even go to the actors in portraying the characters, and last but absolutely not least all the master-minds behind the wonderful animation, textures, lighting and rendering. I don't even want to think about all the hours and effort that went into it. It was supurb. 3D went to a whole new level. One that I loved.

Mary Blair Art

I started up my web-browser today, as always with my trusty google (what would I be without it?) and saw such a sweet image featured to celebrate a celebrity birthday that rang a bell of familiarity; which turned out to be the 100th birth-day of Mary Blair, who was a leading illustrator for Disney, and created well-known characters like Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella (:

I popped over to the image-side, and I just loved her work, and sadly wondered why it never crossed my path before, so, to keep reminding myself of her work, as it is seriously inspiring me, I decided to share my thoughts on my blog (the perfect place for it!) and some of her work! I got a DLD!

A what?

That is what a lot of people will probably be thinking, especially the ones who aren't familiar with deviantART (; A DLD (Daily Literary Deviation) is a special daily dA feature, but than only for the literary community. Every day only a few pieces will be selected to be featured in a news-article to be read by a large community, so to be awarded something like this, for me as a writer, is a great honour (:

Apple Co-founder/Chairman Steve Jobs dies - news-article

Yesterday I was typing away happily blogging about my latest discovery of Tintin, today is the exact opposite as I felt really saddened when I heard on the BBC radio 2 morning news, that Steve Jobs, the brilliant mind behind Apple has passed away at the age of 56...

That man has given us so much, and his legacy will live on for decades, maybe even centuries, but still, it is a very sad thing that one of the inventors of the brilliant Mac computer, the iPod, iPhone, and even iPad, can not be with us longer to enjoy the fruits of his creations.

My life would be very different if it were not for my trusty iMac, and the constant company of my iPod - it would be very difficult for me to visualize my world without it. I would be limited in my art-creation, which is, no matter how I twist or turn it, a very important part of myself.

So, even if nobody reads this, I still very much wish to give my condolences to his family, his friends and employees, and everybody in the wide world who shares this same passion as me for Apple and how it has enriched our lives.

Rest in peace, Steve.

The Adventures of Tintin!

So today I was scrolling through my facebook updates, when I came across some fabulous new shares by one of my favourite film-directors, Peter Jackson... and what did he share? Some beautiful amazing stuff. A new trailer for the epicly cool looking The Adventures of Tintin and a set of seven gorgeous screen-shots! I just can't wait to go and catch that movie in the cinema around Christmas! This collaboration between Spielberg and Jackson is just a marvel, absolutely wow.

Sleep Well, Sleep Forever...

Over @ deviantART the 2011 edition of the Epic Movie Poster Contest was held, and like last year I couldn't help myself and enter again (:

This time the plot of Sleep Well, Sleep Forever: A Dex Campos Mystery sparked my interest as it gave me immediate inspiration because of it's wonderful atmosphere and story. I felt a beautiful film-noir movie-theme creeping up at me and decided to create a series of four, the first one the main poster (which you can see above my text) and the three follow-ups depicting the three leads; the written-off Detective, the seductive Girl and the dangerous Boyfriend...

Here is a little snippet of the (fake!) moviescript, and below that the three follow-up posters (:

Dexter "Dex" Campos, a retired L.A. Detective turned mystery writer, thought today would be like any other day. A couple of hours making losing bets at the racetrack, then back to his empty apartment where he, and a bottle of scotch would continue their battle to overcome writer's block. But today would be different. Today... she would be waiting for him at his doorstep.

It has been quite a while since I last updated my blog, but that doesn't mean my life has been on hold. Many things have happened, and most of the time I just didn't have the time to sit down and write a (short) update...

But, that all aside, I'm planning to do better! So, let me jump in with the (for me) incredibly great news and the big honour of becoming second in a literature competition over at deviantART!

The competition was held by an Australian University literary group called Verandah, and they selected mine out of all pieces... I am still incredibly happy and (again) honoured!

The Hobbit!

Lately I've been really psyched about the first signs of shooting from The Hobbit! I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and had been keeping my eyes and ears open for updates on the progress; but when I found my way to the first of many announched behind-the-scenes video-blogs by Peter Jackson - I thought I'd seriously died and gone to heaven..!

New blog lay-out!

Yup, you read that right! I found it time for a change, and spend the weekend creating a totally new look for my blog (: Second to that, I am also changing what I post in here; besides my own creations in the world of art, I will also be sharing the things in the world that catch my eye. Which will probably be a whole array of things, so we'll see where that will lead me or us!
